The beginning of ABUSE…

Dr. Benjamin LoParo and I met when I was 18 and he was 36.  This right there should have been a red flag!  When I met Dr. LoParo, I was a waitress at a local diner in NJ and he had two successful chiropractic offices in Allendale, NJ and Paterson, NJ. In the beginning, everything seemed fine and we moved in together shortly after dating a few days (I know what your thinking…RED FLAG)!Ben asked me to leave working at the diner (he didn’t like me trying to meet new friends or being around other men).  This is where the control started.  He then wanted me to work in his Allendale office and do all the paperwork.  I knew nothing about submitting medical bills to insurance companies.  Ben said it was easy… he handed me a calendar of the year and highlighted every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for about 15 patients with their files and told me to bill everyone the same.  After doing some digging and process of elimination – I confronted Ben and asked why he was billing major insurance companies for dates that his patients didn’t even come in to the office.  He barked at me and said, “this is the way it gets done and I get paid, if you don’t like it, get a f**kink job and pay rent”.  “This isn’t a free ride”.  Well, I didn’t like it and got another job so I wasn’t part of this fraud.  Ben had his way of making me work for other people miserable and of course his controlling bullsh** and threatening won again.   I was back in his office within 3 weeks as the “happy doctor’s young and pretty girlfriend”.  Oh he had everyone fooled with his line of crap.
